Extending Mentoring Services to Reach Juvenile Justice and Foster Care Youth
|
Most of us can remember that one adult - teacher, parent, or neighbor - who made our transition from adolescence into adulthood a little easier. But for young people in juvenile justice or foster care system, finding adults who can provide ongoing support and understand the unique challenges these youth face can be a difficult and sometimes impossible task. And while numberous agencies help connect young people to mentors, very few are equipped to assist these at-risk youth, leaving many without the guidance they so desperately need.

Transitional Housing
True Transition's new program provides young adults with the opportunity to gain confidence and skills through a mentor relationship with other young adults and experienced social workers.
Based on college dorm models, this program bridges dependency with independency. Our program is a supervised program with staff on site to assist with the day to day challenges of being an adult. |
